I've been meaning to read this story for a long time! It's been recommended to me so often. And I am thrilled to finally have an excuse. Namely: I saw that this story vaguely mentions Crookshanks. So...here I am. :D
I have to start by saying that this is an amazing concept for a story. It's so funny and primed for all sorts of shenanigans. I love that Audrey has to step in all the time and be like, "I'm sorry, what??" I worked in Residence Life in college, and I absolutely had to do that to my residents and employees alike, haha.
I adored the plethora of debates happening in the Ravenclaw CR! They're so believable as to what the Eagles would want to discuss, and I love that they have such lively attendance (or so it seems). I'm a 'Puff through and through, but I would love to be part of these debates! My 'Claw tendencies call to meeee.
Finally, two lines that made me laugh out loud:
First is about my darling kitty, Crookshanks: "I'll give ten (10) Galleons reward for whoever gets this cat out of our dorm. -BZ" -- lmfao. This is absolutely how my cat would be talked about by other people. He's usually sweet to me, but he's an absolute terror when he wants to be.
Second: "If bringing Peppermint Toads, please reconsider." -- hahaha. HONESTLY. I love all of the Ravenclaw Strong Opinions on sweets. This is fantastic.
I'm so excited to read and review more of this story. I really, really enjoyed these first two chapters. Well done!

So Audrey is heavily inspired by one of the RAs I had in college. She was my friend and a year younger than me, which made it hilarious becuase I was a senior and she was a junior. I always imagined that prefects were a bit like RAs, probably because I have no experience with prefects. She is definitely the mom friend of the house, and I'm glad that's showing in this. The little eagles are so chaotic. I love them, but I would never want to be the prefect or Head Girl. There is too much chaos, and I am not nearly as responsible as Audrey.
There is Crookshanks! Not much, but he is here because I love him so much. He would definitely sneak into Ravenclaw Tower for snuggles and slippers to chew on. Crookshanks' characterization in this is inspired by many cats I've met, including my last cat, but Crookshanks is fluffier and more likely to cause trouble. I wish that I had included Crookshanks more because I love him, and honestly, who doesn't love a big fluffy kitty?
I have absolutely nothing against Peppermint Toads. Honestly, they would probably be my favorite behind most of the chocolates they mention in the books. That being said, I just thought that having them say 'If bringing Peppermint Toads, please reconsider' would be hilarious, and I'm glad you agreed! They have very strong opinions on sweets because I have very strong opinions on sweets. They need lots of sweets to fuel their debates!
I would be absolutely terrible in debates because I am very bad at public speaking, but I think they'd be really fun to watch. Very chaotic, seeing as they're not exactly... calm or quiet, but definitely super fun to watch. It's a whole house thing, with the exception of the wee firsties, who are put to bed so the big kids can say naughty words. Not that the first years wouldn't already know them, but like, Audrey wants to keep the firsties innocent just for a little longer.

Oh my gosh i can't believe the year is over. This honestly felt like reading a Harry Potter book in miniature, it had that feeling of things happening and escalating and then resolving, and I feel satisfied but also sad because aw, Audrey and Evan are leaving and it always kind of feels like the end of an era, doesn't it?
Again, I loved all the little messages and comments the students left, they're always either super snarky or funny or both. And I have to say that this is one of the most original ideas of executing a fic ever, and it was done so so well. You really had me laughing, and falling absolutely in love with Ravenclaw house and their culture of debate clubs, and it just gave me this feeling of coziness and camaraderie and it's just been such a joy to read this. I feel like I've seen you have a sequel so I'm really excited to read that too!

I just want to say my b because it has been... uh... a while since you wrote this lovely review, and I am just now replying to it. I do love and appreciate these reviews, though, so I am so sorry if you get a flood of emails notifications.
The sequel is complete! I do not promise that there will be a sequel to the sequel, but if there is, it won't be an immediate sequel (obviously, seeing as that would be during Deathly Hallows, and I cannot make that year anything close to funny). I had a bit of fun writing this, and I'm really glad you enjoyed it!!
Please don't be too sad about Audrey and Evan leaving!! They show up in the Iris series, and that's only on Iris' second year, so you'll get them for at least another year! (or more if you figured out who Audrey marries in the future)

Toad Liberation Front sounds like a very awesome project or movement or whatever it is, I love it, as well as for Toadopolis. I love the joy they all share upon Fred and George tunring the corridor into a swamp. Evan is just being a fangirl and I guess Audrey refrains from commenting because she of course can't or doesn't want to complain, but as the proper Head Girl she also can't agree with such behavior haha.
Aw, clever little claws trying to turn the hag into a toad is super cool, and i like how they managed to adjust their ambition into a more realistic result - turning her bows into toads. sounds effective enough to me.
aah, it's so satisfying watching umbrdige be messed around with from this inner ravenclaw perspective!

there will be no snacks due to Peeves’ inability to not start a food fight. - haha, indeed, he cannot be trusted, but as it turned out, no amount of precaution can stop him from causing havoc, be it with cauldron cakes or syrup (omg eew sticky) or dungbombs. i would have really really loved to be in that particular debate
Please see her for a list of ingredients (don’t worry, they have real chocolate in them). - lol why, has audrey tried to bake healthy snacks that no one liked? i can imagine that :D but i feel that she sees that this is a crisis and only real chocolate can help in such a case
okay so all the umbridge letters have such a good voice captured, this typical vomit-inducing bullshitting tone, the hidden threats masked as kindness and order, it is all so very umbridge-y and i applaud you for that, and then there's the Audrey and Evan's notes which are still maintaining a civil tone but you can totally feel the hate for umbridge and what she represents and i love to see how the whole house is sticking together against this hag

Thank you! I tried really hard on Umbridge's letters, so I'm glad you thought they sound like her! I was dying inside the entire time I was writing them, so I'm glad that it worked and they sound right. I hope that I'll never have to write something from her POV ever again.
Audrey and Evan are obviously the best bowtruckle farmers. :p

hahahah, i loved this, this has got to be my favorite one. A water repellent for fred and george, like they're cats, omg i'm dying, and i love ow they STILL manage to get into the common room AND enchant the knocker to pose their own riddles, loland their scavenger hunt was a super fun idea
And ooh, the little heart Fred left for Audrey has me all fluttering
I also loved the fact that since Trelawney now has not much to do at the castle, she is invited to debates so she can keep busy. That's actually really sweet of the Ravenclaws.
I mean, it's so strange, because I don't really know Evan and Audrey, only through these notices they put up, but I love them dearly based on it! You're doing an amazing job with this, for real.

Wonder who’s wound tighter right now, Snape or Umbridge - haha i love this, i wonder that too, that was one of my favorite moments in the book where they were both at each other's necks and you kind of hate snape already and seeing him brought down a peg by umbridge is oddly satisfying, but then it's umbridge so anything she does is kind of deplorable
Madam Pomfrey will lecture me again - i love how this implies that it has happened before lol :D :D
the Boy-Who-Lived himself is not a source - and again, i giggled at this because i imagined someone bringing harry potter along in their backpack, taking him out in the middle of the debate as a 'here's my source, tell 'em harry'
The discussion on the bulletin board itself was fun to observe, and I am really enjoying this and how Audrey and Evan are handling the things, and that Evan always provides snacks, this fic is everything, it is cute and sweet and hilarious and also very clever and valid in picturing how these kids were actively involved in what was going on at Hogwarts, or at least they were trying to make sense of it in true ravenclaw fashion

Fun fact: the character who would cite Harry as a source is from one of my other fics. She also would totally bring him to a debate solely to be like 'see??? harry said so'.
I have not reread this fic, so I don't remember what Madam Pomfrey was lecturing about. I wish I did, but whatever it was has probably happened numerous times. She lectures the Ravenclaws a lot.
Snacks are necessary for Ravenclaws to properly function, thus Evan is just looking out for his fellow eagles.
Audrey is very snarky, and I regret nothing. Also, it's very late, so I don't have much to say except to thank you for leaving reviews! I'm trying to get through all of my unreplied reviews before the end of the year, so you're going to hear from me a lot.

Aww, making a gift for professor Flitwick is so sweet. It figures that they really look up to him and love him, just like the Gryffindors all held McGonagall in high regard even if she was very strict.
You are doing such brilliant work here, honestly. With well-timed and well-chosen words, you are weaving a story here without any of the traditional narrative tools, I respect it so much. The whole house is a character in a way, how they communicate, their obsession with sweets, their academic nature, the debates and even the little silly things.
and in between the fun, there's also hints of things getting serious. i'm really curious to see what the next few months will bring. and nice job for keeping Dumbledore's army at an absolute DL

omg why do i now want nothing else but to be a part of the ravenclaw common room and house? this just gives me such sweet warm vibes, like flitwick being all nice and welcoming over christmas, them anouncing snowball fights and wanting to make presents for the house elves, it's so freaking adorable!!!

I almost died laughing, though tis was not the only time. I like how the snacks have become a sort of currency in the ravenclaw common room and it got so bad that hermione had to give them dental advice lol. and yes, the raenclaws support their students to use their voices, express their opinions, think and challenge the status quo, and it is becoming my favorite central piece of this fic so far, but everything around it is so so funny, especially what i feel is audrey's growing but very calm frustration about the ravenclaws fucking with umbridge, which i think is hilarious, stealing her ugly bows but most of all ENCHANTING HER UGLY PLATES WITH SCARY CATS HHAHAHA YES
This is so much fun!

hahahaha, this is so brilliant. i love all the research questions, especially the one about 'do magical creatures know we love them' the escalating nature of the debate topics really tickles me, like it goes from something quite normal to a reaction to what's going on at the school and how umbridge is just trying to cancel everyone and how the ravenclaws are still taking it very professionally and as an opportunity to give every opinion a platform.
the alternative to dragonologists club was amazing lol and also the fact that fred and george's jokes have been mentioned twice on the baord now is hilarious, though i think it only works as a sort of advertising for them, haha.
this is really sweet and funny, i'm so excited every time i scroll for the next notice.

Hello, I've been meaning to read this for forever and I'm so glad I started. I love the subtleness of it all, it is very clever and some messages and snarky, and it's amazing how you manage to shed light on different character solely through the voice of their notices, like Audrey for example, I already love her :D

oh my god my heart. audrey stressing about exams, silent hours, board games and stickers and all of it omg its just so ravenclaw. and then there's the breakin and once again just the debate rolling on is so fun to see, and the wee hint to luna to tell the school paper people what happened. I love how the debate goes back and forth, how there’s still people debating the truth. It’s actually really realistic, people not knowing what to believe. and then the farewell…. omg i’m so happy there’s a followup to this but i’m, going to miss our snarky seventh year prefects. evan and audrey were like the main glue sticking everyone else together. This whole fic was so lovely to read, it’s different from what i usually go for, i actually loved all of it! i’m going straight over to the next one now! thank you for writing this!

ravenclaws building a what i imagine to be a guillotine is utterly incredible. i love these characters so much. i’m so happy that they’ve got their board back, and they actually seem to be coping quite well with the reign of terror, especially after fred and george make their heroic exit. also toadoppolis is now a thing and i love it and i would like updates going forward please. on that note i am so so proud of audrey for what i assume was a lesson on turning bows into frogs for the third years. 100% behind her with that. she really is a great character, and you get her across so well. i’m really going to miss her when she graduates, because i guess the next chapter is the last of her we’ll have. anyway, before then we have newts!

no. no no no. she cant! damn the tone just shifted. i love the way the notes from audrey and evan totally change tone, even if she does get a sneaky wee one in at the end once they’ve locked her out. also love that she cant get in with the riddles, i can just imagine how annoyed she’d be. and it all started so well, april fools and running away and all of that. I feel so sorry for them, it’s like all the joy has gone out of the board, and the school as well i guess. you capture the shifts in outside tone so well, even when we don’t actually see anything. that’s kind of the beauty of this piece.

oh my god i think this is my favourite one yet. like at first we have all out war, we have divination, rebellion, defence, renegade tutoring services and audrey and evan uniting the forces of ravenclaw against umbridge. and then before we get too sucked into that suddenly we have fred and george escapades and it’s just like brilliantly done. i was actually just laughing at some of this. i’m like lowkey obsessed with this story now. the way the notes go back and forwards and even audrey gets involved, because obviously she does really love them, you can tell even in the tone of the notes. and she won! i’m actually so happy for her. this is all just honestly delightful!

evan and audrey and just fully going for it now and i ADORE it. some grumpy ministry bureaucrat isn’t going to get in their way, and i do love that interrupting ravenclaw tradition is totally where audrey throws caution out and straight up says they’re ignoring her on the notice board. “wonder who’s wound tighter right now, snape or umbridge.” oh my god i love this story. and then omg it explodes. this is amazing, like just i can totally imagine that being the only thing anyone wants to talk about and the way it’s handled via the board its incredible. can’t wait for the next chapter now! excellent as always!

“audrey is coming back from holidays a day earlier than we expected” lol so i can kind of imagine this having the same effect as your parents coming home early, and also it paints a pretty clear picture that those left behind had been having a pretty relaxing time and *not* keeping the tower up to her standards. as always ravenclaw debates kind of seem like a riot, in the best way. i love how you get these things across even though we done actually ever see it. there's the other totally random thoughts like the napping sofa which just build up the interactions. oh and now we have the breakout from azkaban. i had almost forgotten that was coming, i was just really absorbed in the claws' lives, which is entirely the point. i do really love how you manage to do that. it all seems to get a bit more dark after that, the notes about hogsmeade and bag checks. Like the outside world is creeping into hogwarts now, right onto the bulletin board, even if it only lasts until someone puts something glittery up and audrey goes mad via note. truly in love with this story now, i’m stupidly invested in these adventures via note.
